Whilst science is not my strong point, I want to share the stories of some women who have worked in astronomy. I hope that this inspires some girls and women to aim for the stars. Pun intended.
Beth Brown - 4th February 1969 - 5th October 2008.
Beth Brown was a brilliant astronomer who worked hard to help women and minorities follow their dreams of becoming astrophysicists. She was the assistant director for science communications and higher education at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.
When she was a child, Beth loved "Star Trek," astronomy, and science fiction. She was the top student in her high school and graduated with the highest honors from Howard University with a degree in astrophysics. Beth made history by becoming the first African-American woman to study astronomy at the University of Michigan, where she earned her Ph.D. in 1998. She inspired many people with her passion for space and science.
